A question that has plagued every living critter since the dawn of "critters". I read "The Omnivore's Dilemma", and I know what challenges I face. There was, and still is, a time where we all ate what we could. Whatever critter you are, you ate/eat what you found that was edible. What was in front of you. Every creature has to work for it's food, whether you earn the money to buy McDonald's or you are a single cell working your way through a Petri dish. Sometimes, I feel more like that.
Here's the "Omnivore's Dilemma". What do you eat when you feel like you have to behave yourself? What do you eat when you don't have a strong culture to back it up? Are you Indian? Are you Asian? Are you Arabic, or Mediterranean? Are you Latin? Are you Greek? Yiddish? Italian? What is your food identity? Esp. when your food identity is all of the above, and includes dishes that might hail from another planet?
So tonight, I attempt something like Lomo Saltado. A little more Asian, a little more Greek. Wtf? If it tastes good, I'll eat it. Decision done!
